    What is Food?

    Food is any substance consumed to provide nutritional support for the body. It is usually of plant or animal origin, and contains essential nutrients, such as carbohydrates, fats, proteins, vitamins, or minerals.

    Food sources: Plants

    Many plants or plant parts are eaten as food. There are around 2000 plant species which are cultivated for food, and many have several distinct cultivars.
